This year Trees for Life celebrated the planting of its Millionth Tree with a series of events, starting with a lecture tour by Trees for Life founder and executive director, Alan Watson Featherstone, continuing with Treelay 2012, and culminating with the planting of the Millionth Tree itself on 20th May.
May brought the Treelay; a walking and cycling relay linking all the sites that Trees for Life has worked on in the western Highlands over the past 23 years. Fit and willing walkers were invited to participate in one (or more) of the 12 legs on the route with individual legs varying in length from 13km to 43 km. A route map and summary of the legs can be viewed here. Some of the longer legs were split over 2 days with a night in the wilds. The Treelay started at Dundreggan Estate on the 5th May and concluded at Dundreggan on Saturday, 19th May.
