Memorial Groves
A living legacy

Let us help you to celebrate the life of your loved one,
with a special grove of trees planted in their name.

Losing a loved one is never easy. Sometimes it's hard to find a unique and meaningful way to remember them. At Trees for Life we are often asked to plant a tree as a living memorial by individuals and we are deeply touched by the dedications that come in to us. More recently we have been asked to plant whole groves of trees by friends and family who have all contributed to the creation of the grove. These groves of trees will form part of the Caledonian Forest. They'll never be cut down and will be both a lasting memorial and a legacy for future generations. We'll also give you the co-ordinates of the planting area and directions of how to get there so you can visit.

How to set up

If you would like to enable the family, friends and colleagues of a loved one to plant a grove of trees in their memory, you can set this up very simply.

Take a look at the existing grove pages, and send us details of what you'd like; then we'll set up the grove. Send us an email at trees@findhorn.org with the subject line 'Memorial Page Request', with:

  • The text as you would like it to read on the page
  • A photograph of the person the grove is for, in .jpg format
  • The person's full name
  • YOUR contact address and phone number (these will not appear on the page)

One photo per grove please. It would be very helpful if you could email the photo as an attachment along with the grove request. This enables us to get your grove up quickly and easily. The exact size and shape will depend on the photograph, but it will generally be resized to no larger than approximately 300 x 400 pixels. Please send images no larger than 1mb. If you would like specific photos from this website included on your grove, please include in your email either their filenames, or the URL of the page they were on.

Setting up the grove and planting the first eight trees is £50. Each additional £5 donated towards the grove allows us to plant another tree. The initial payment (min. £50) is due when your grove has been set up. You can pay online using the button on the grove page. The grove page will be removed if the initial payment is not made within 10 days of the grove being set up. Each grove is unique, so please contact us if you have any queries.

What Happens Next

Please allow up to 10 days to set up your grove. We will then email you to let you know when it's up and give you the URL so you and your friends can find it easily. We'll then keep the page updated with the names of people who have made a donation, the total amount raised by the grove, and how many trees the grove consists of.

Your Memorial Gift Certificate

You may choose to have a certificate created for your grove. If you would like this, we will post it to you at a date of your choice.
