Autumn colours in Glen Affric
The Caledonian Forest is at its most colourful in autumn, and as these images show, it is not only the trees which display beautiful colours then.
 Bracken (Pteridium aquilinum) turns beautiful shades of yellow in September and early October.
 Red leaves of blaeberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) amongst evergreen cowberries and a fallen tree branch. |
 Silver birches (Betula pendula) near Badger Falls.
 Sulphur tuft fungi (Hypholoma fasciculare) growing on a fallen birch log. |
