The Caledonian Challenge working with Trees for Life!
To mark our 10th Birthday the Caledonian Challenge has teamed up with Trees for Life, an award winning Scottish conservation charity dedicated to the regeneration and restoration of the Caledonian Forest. Together we will plant 10 trees for every walker* helping them to become part of a solution to global warming and to bring a spectacular ancient, wild wood back to life.
The State Street Caledonian Challenge is Scotland's top endurance fundraising event. Around 1,500 hardy souls, from all over the UK and overseas, will walk in teams of three to six through some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery.
Each team is walking to raise funds for the Scottish Community Foundation - a unique charity that gives back to Scotland, supporting local charities and community groups, from a disabled crèche in Skye to the homeless in Glasgow. Today, the foundation manages over 200 charitable funds so many causes benefit from your efforts.
The State Street Caledonian Challenge is an immensely rewarding and emotional experience, both in terms of participation and the contribution to the community that the event makes. In addition, The Extra Challenge is open to participants with disabilities or health problems that prevent them from completing the full challenge.
There are awards and prizes on offer, including the Courage Cup, which celebrates a walker who has overcome personal hardship or injury to complete The State Street Caledonian Challenge or The Extra Challenge. The winner receives a cash award and the opportunity to donate £3,000 to a chosen charity.
This year, there will be an added incentive, as it's our 10th Anniversary it promises to be bigger and better.
