The Moray-based conservation charity is asking people to show that they also care for Mother Earth on Mother’s Day by having a specially-dedicated tree or grove planted for their mothers in Scotland’s Caledonian Forest.
Kirsty Wark, who has also worked on BBC Radio 4’s World at One and as a producer on BBC Reporting Scotland, said: “When my father died we planted a Mountain Ash on the banks of one of his favourite fishing lochs. When
we moved to this house 14 years ago friends gave us a glorious Japanese Maple. This Mother’s Day I can think of
no better commemoration to my green-fingered country-loving mother who died two years ago than dedicating a Caledonian Pine to her, especially as it is an area of Scotland which, for me, has wonderful and lasting family memories."
Alan Watson Featherstone, Trees for Life Executive Director, said: “Mother’s Day is a good time to also show that you care for Mother Earth. Our scheme allows people to take simple but positive action to tackle climate change
and biodiversity loss, as well as restoring an important habitat.”
Single trees with a personalised certificate cost £15. Groves of eight trees, with a certificate and a personalised
page on Trees for Life’s website, cost £50 and extra trees can be added for £5 each.
People can also support Trees for Life’s award-winning restoration of the Caledonian Forest by joining its acclaimed Conservation Volunteer Weeks. For more information on the charity, see www.treesforlife.org.uk or call 0845 458 3505.
