Gloucestershire’s Adam Druett (22) is counting down the days until he tackles a marathon cycle across Britain on behalf of Moray-based conservation charity Trees for Life and Bristol-based sustainable transport charity Sustrans.
Adam, who has been training for the arduous 1,000 mile journey for several months, will set off from Lands End on Tuesday August 18th and aims to reach John O’Groats by Thursday August 27th.
“Cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats has been an ambition of mine ever since I bought my first bike when I was 16. I can’t wait to get started and I’m proud to be doing this on behalf of two charities that are close to my heart,” said Lechlade resident Adam.
Trees for Life is celebrating 20 years of restoring the Caledonian Forest in the Scottish Highlands, recently marking the anniversary with the news that it has now planted 800,000 trees.
Alan Watson Featherstone, Trees for Life Executive Director, said: “We wish Adam the best of luck on his journey. Support like this makes a real difference to our work. Today only one per cent of the Caledonian Forest survives, but thanks to people like Adam we are bringing it back.”
